Indians Open 2008 Season with 2-1 Record
by Nate
The opening series is here and gone. It wasn't a sweep but it was an opening series win against a division rival. The only reason it wasn't a sweep is we forgot how to hit in the finale.
Overall, I think we looked good. We hit the ball hard and in timely situations, for the first two games, and we got some very good starting pitching. The bullpen got us out a few jams, sealed two wins, and kept us in today’s game.
The bad things are Victor went down to injury, although it doesn't look like it's very serious at the moment. Again Jake Westbrook fell victim to no run support. Borowski was Borowsk, letting runners on base and giving up home runs before closing the deal. Once I'd love to see him just dominate teams for more than one appearance. He got it done so I can't complain to much.
2-1 Is a great start to the 2008 season. An added benefit is the Tigers started 0-3 and aren't hitting very well. We put the White Sox down to a 1-2 start.
The Royal are turning heads early with some good play from their young up and comers. We'll see if they can sustain.
Now it's off to California for six games. Three vs Oakland and then three vs LA.
GO TRIBE!
